Ezekiel Richardson (JR), son of Ezekiel (SR) and Nancy YOUNG RICHARDSON, was born in 1838 in Chariton County, Missouri, the youngest of twelve, and according to family papers in possession, a twin of Nancy J. RICHARDSON.  In 1872, in Chariton County, Missouri, Ezekiel married Mary Francis JOHNSON, the daughter of Samuel Quinn JOHNSON and Nancy Clortham COOPER.  The marriage occurred with Manoah Richardson, a son of William Fletcher Richardson, a brother to Ezekiel (SR).

To this union, there were 7 children. They were:

  • Eugene Leonard Richardson (1838 - ?), married Malinda Teague
  • Elizabeth Richardson (1861-1952), married Winfield Scott Alexander
  • George Lee Richardson(1863- 1946) described below
  • Mary Willie Richardson (1863 - 1950) a twin of George, married James Thomas Cumming
  • Martha Frances Richardson (1866 - 1898), married Mose W. Smalley
  • Harriet Bell Richardson (1868 - 1900), married David King Marshall
  • Dora Richardson (1871 - 1952), married James Robert Woodruff

From the Civil War information in the Library in Columbia, Missouri, comes the following information.  Union records show that one Ezekiel Richardson of Randolph County, Missouri was arrested as a guerrilla 6-16-1892 in Randolph County, Missouri and confined in the Military Prison at Alton, Illinois.  He was released 12-30-1862 on taking an oath of allegiance to the United States.  The records also show that a man of that name was received by General E.K. Smith and passed at Alexandria, LA, 6-7-1865 as a 2nd Lt. of Co. A., Perkins Btn., Missouri, Infantry, Confederate States of America.

It appears that for a period of time in 1870's that some of the family was in Texas (George married there; and Mary married a Texas man). At some point during that period, Ezekiel died in Texas and is buried there. The date of his death is listed in the FamilySearch records, where a daughter of Elizabeth and Winfield Scott Alexander provided the information from a family record.

EZEKIEL LEE RICHARDSON
b. February 28, 1887; Bonham, Fannon County, TX
d. July 14, 1953; Belle Fourche, SD

Ezekiel, called Lee by the family, was born in Texas, but moved to Montana with his family prior to 1900.  He married Clara Alice Coleman prior to 1918, and they had two children.  Jame Louis, born in 1918, and Willis Barney born in 1919.  From a diary of Clara, written in 1917, it sounds as if she agreed to a proposal in March 1917.

Clara and Lee divorced, and he remarried to Ida Louis in 1928, in South Dakota.  Little is known about this relationship, or his time after the divorce.  The picture was taken when Lee visited Bill's (Willis Barney) family in the late 1940's.
